Blog Post 3 Conspiracy and Technology

I think technology plays a big role in today's conspiracy theories. Because information is so easily passed from one person through email, instant messaging, blogs, and websites like Wikipedia and YouTube. These sites on the net make it very easy to pass information true or not no matter what the topic is. There is a conspiracy theory out there called loose change claiming that the nine eleven terrorist attacks was all a government conspiracy to get us into war in the Middle East. I know many people have watched this and although there really is no proof to this the writer director Dylan Avery sets forth a very convincing story. Here is a link to loose change on YouTube

If the technology we have today did not exist this conspiracy I believe would not have even got off the ground. So I believe the ease of information transfer plays a big role in today's conspiracy theories. I believe that a lot of today's conspiracies are a direct result of today's technology.

Unit Two Blog

I do believe reasoning skills should be taught in primary school. There are several reason for this, one it will be instilled in children at a young age, two it will help them make important life decisions at a young age, and three it could help parents to know that their children have good reasoning skills. In my thoughts the earlier you can teach something the better. I believe children's minds can be molded like clay at a young age before they pick up bad habits it is our responsibility to nip these habits in the butt before they get to far gone. Another good reason for teaching reasoning skills at a young age is so when it comes to the hard decisions in life our youth can make an informed decision. For instance when it comes to peer pressure with drugs and alcohol our young can make an informed decision. They can way out pros and cons when it comes to many life changing decisions. Such as career decisions and sex at an early age, which both can be life altering decisions. Finally parents could breathe easier knowing their children have good reasoning and decision making skills. Would you not feel better knowing your children knew how to reason through lives decisions? I mean even in this day and age there are people I know that are in the middle of their lives and still do not have good reasoning or decision making skills. It seems every time they turn around they put themselves in a bad situations, when if they would have been taught good reasoning skills from a young age it would be like a natural instinct to them and they would avoid a lot of bad situations. This is why I believe reasoning skills should be taught in primary school.

Unit One Blog

Does technology make us smarter or dumber? I think technology can do both depending on how you use it. If use technology in an effective manner it can be a very good thing. There are a million avenues you can take to let technology educate you for instance the internet. Through the internet anything you want to know is at your fingertips, from philosophy to cooking. With the internet the sky's the limit when it comes to knowledge if you just use it effectively. On the other hand the internet could be used to dumb you down If you use it in that manner. For instance I know people that all they do with the internet is get on facebook and play farmviile all day, and this is all they talk about. These people live and breathe facebook, they have let this take over their lives, I mean it is bad the moment they wake up they are on facebook they don't get anything done around the house or even get dressed some days. A friend of mine even started a group on facebook it is called facebook game addicts anonymous. He is highly addicted to facebook games. This is supposedly a spoof on a popular facebook game farmeville but I know people who are really like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOtRMouZR5k . If you use technology in this manner yes I think it can make you dumber.

I think technology is a double edge sword it has its goods and its bads. People just have to be mindful of how they use it. I think the best idea when it comes to doing anything is everything in moderation. So if you live your life the way you should use technology in the appropriate manner and have fun while you are doing it. Then technology can be a good thing, if not it could be very bad.
